My
(Abridged)
Philosophy
I love teaching chemistry, because the subject serves as a medium for solving real-world problems.
Most of the students that walk into a general chemistry class do not plan on becoming chemists in their professional careers.
Some students may use the material in future courses, especially if they plan to go into the field of medicine, or some may only be taking the course to fulfill general requirements.

In any case, I work to ensure that my students are proficient in the subject matter itself, but also gain skills that will go far beyond the course at hand.

They learn to think critically and analytically, communicate abstract ideas, and have the confidence to approach a complex problem in a rational and effective manner.

When students build on these skills, they succeed in chemistry, but more importantly, they are able to contribute more to society as a whole.
Resources
Over the years, I've put together graphics and supplemental materials for my students and for my colleagues to use in their classes as well. Most of these are available to the public, which you can access by clicking the Google Drive icon.

In 2020, when much of the world was switching to a remote setting, I started writing and recording explanation videos for various concepts in general chemistry for my students. I really enjoyed the challenge in making these, and I'd like to make more in the future (preferably with improved video editing skills). These are all posted in my YouTube channel.
